We provide the Site to you subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy. By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. The Revision Date below will show you when the Privacy Policy was last revised. By continuing to use the Site, you accept and agree to any revisions to the Site.
REVISION DATE
This Privacy Policy was last revised on April 15, 2010.
APPLICATION OF THE PRIVACY POLICY
This Privacy Policy applies solely to the Bridgepoint Education Site. This Site includes links to the websites for Ashford University and University of the Rockies, which have their own privacy policies. To see the privacy policy for Ashford University, click here. To see the privacy policy for University of the Rockies, click here.
This Site may contain links to third party websites that are not owned or operated by Bridgepoint Education. We have no control over, and we assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third party website. By using the Site, you release Bridgepoint Education from any claim or liability arising from your use of any third party website.
WHAT TYPE OF INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT, AND HOW IS IT USED?
When you visit the Site, we may collect passive information about your visit. Passive information is any form of aggregate data, navigational data, tracking data, click-stream data, or historical data, which does not on its own personally identify you.
For example, when you visit the Site our servers may collect some basic technical information, including your IP address, the domain name of your ISP (e.g., whether you logged on from aol.com or whitehouse.gov), referral data (e.g., the address of the last URL a user visited prior to clicking through to our Site) and browser and platform type (e.g., a Firefox browser on a Macintosh platform).
The Site also uses electronic files such as cookies, web beacons, or log file information to: (1) identify unique browsers that visit the Site; (2) track usage throughout the Site (e.g., tracking where traffic comes from, how traffic flows within the Site, etc.); (3) store information so that you will not have to re-enter it during your visit or the next time you visit the Site; and (4) monitor aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, pages viewed, etc.
None of this information personally identifies you. Some information (such as your IP address) can potentially be linked with information from other sources to identify you, but Bridgepoint Education will not seek or obtain such information unless necessary to protect the safety or property of Bridgepoint Education or its employees, the safety of third parties, to comply with court orders or legal process, or as otherwise required by law.
Bridgepoint may share aggregate statistical information with business partners, sponsors or other third parties, but none of them will receive personally identifiable information. For example, we may tell an advertiser that X number of visitors visited a certain area on a website, but we will not disclose anything that uniquely identifies those individuals.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM JOB APPLICANTS, AND ITS USE
If you submit a job application to Bridgepoint Education through the Site, we may also collect personally identifiable information about you, including: your first and last name; your home or other physical address; your email address; your telephone numbers; your gender, race, and veteran status; your qualifications, experience, and employment history; your salary objectives; information you submit as part of your resume; and other information you provide as part of the online employment application.
Our online application process operates on a system provided by Automatic Data Processing, Inc. ("ADP"). The information you provide through the application process is stored on a secured server location. That information is available only to recruiters in the Human Relations department of Bridgepoint Education, and to managers at Bridgepoint Education involved in hiring. Information regarding candidates who submit information through our online application process is kept for approximately one year, and then destroyed. If a candidate is hired, the information submitted through the online application process becomes a part of his or her employment file.
We may employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf, which may include assisting us in processing your information. We share personally identifiable information with such contractors in order to assist us in using the data for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. These contractors are contractually required to maintain the confidentiality of the information and are restricted from using the information for any unauthorized purpose.
We do not otherwise share your personally identifiable information with third parties, and we do not share your information with third parties for direct marketing purposes.
UNSOLICITED E-MAILS
Bridgepoint Education makes no promise that any information included in unsolicited e-mails sent to Bridgepoint Education or its employees, through this site or otherwise, will be kept confidential.

Some pages of the Site may use security measures to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of information that is transmitted through the Site. However, no data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personally identifiable information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit, and you do so at your own risk.
CHILDREN'S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION
The Site complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. The Site is not targeted to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. It is possible that through others' mistake or deception we may receive information pertaining to children under 13. If we are notified of this, as soon as we verify the information, we will immediately obtain parental consent or delete the information from our servers.
